01
The mission of Shaping Her Earth (SHE) is to empower young women of color to rise as confident, capable leaders. We address the barriers and disparities they face in education and personal growth by providing mentorship, leadership development, and community-building opportunities. SHE creates safe, supportive spaces where participants gain the skills, networks, and confidence to thrive academically, professionally, and personally. Through intentional guidance and access to opportunities—including internships, workshops, and high-impact campus programs—SHE helps young women of color not just survive, but lead, innovate, and transform their communities.

Shaping Her Earth is guided by three pillars:
SHE MENTORS – We provide mentorship that helps high school and college students achieve their personal, professional, financial, and philosophical goals.
SHE LEADS – On college campuses, we create safe spaces for leadership, community-building, and peer mentorship. Participants lead their peers, guide local high school students, and grow their confidence and leadership skills.
SHE CONNECTS – We link participants to professional women mentors, corporate partners, and internship opportunities, giving early exposure to careers, networks, and real-world experiences that position them in the national leadership pipeline.
Together, these pillars cultivate a national network of emerging leaders ready to rise, lead, and transform their communities.

Shaping Her Earth was founded by Sheria Irving, a passionate advocate for mentorship and empowerment, inspired by her own experiences as an educator in the New York Public School system. In her role, Sheria witnessed the unique challenges faced by young women, especially those from underserved communities. She saw how women of color, a demographic disproportionately affected by poverty, violence, and systemic inequities, often lacked the support, guidance, and resources needed to thrive.
Having benefitted herself from the mentorship of strong women throughout her life, she was fueled and inspired to create SHE. Recognizing that young Black and Brown girls face real and profound challenges—from harsher disciplinary actions in grade school to feelings of hypervisibility and invisibility in higher education—Sheria founded SHE to bridge this gap.

At SHE, we believe leadership is cultivated through mentorship, opportunity, and community. The impact you'll see below represents our 2025–2026 Program Impact Report—a year in which 250+ Black and Brown girls and young women across 7 universities and 10 high schools experienced measurable growth in confidence, leadership, professional access, and belonging through our signature programs and events. These results are more than statistics—they reflect a growing movement of young women who are discovering their voice, expanding their networks, and stepping confidently into leadership.
