OUR MISSION

The mission of Shaping Her Earth is to address the disparities and obstacles facing young women of color, especially as they navigate the pressures of education and self-discovery. The organization works to promote equal opportunities, create inclusive environments, and empower women of color to reach their full potential. Through mentorship and community-building, SHE is dedicated to ensuring these young women not only survive but thrive—becoming confident, capable, and engaged change agents in their communities and beyond.
By providing the tools, resources, and safe spaces for young women of color, SHE is committed to shaping their experiences with intention and care, helping them achieve academic success, leadership skills, and personal growth as they enter high school and transition into college.

OUR CORE

Shaping Her Earth is guided by three core pillars:

SHE Mentors, SHE Leads, and SHE Connects.
* SHE MENTORS: We provide powerful mentorship, helping BIPOC girls in high school and college achieve their “4 P’s”—personal, professional, financial, and philosophical goals.

* SHE LEADS: We empower women of color on college campuses by creating safe spaces that prioritize community-building, leadership development, and personal growth. Through SHE on Campus, these young women lead their peers and mentor local high school student, building confidence and leadership skills.

* SHE CONNECTS: We foster sisterhood and self-empowerment by connecting young women with professional mentors who provide guidance, encouragement, and support. We also offer tools for mental wellness, self-care, and self-esteem building.

These pillars guide our work to inspire, uplift, and empower BIPPOC girls to thrive.

OUR STORY

Shaping Her Earth was founded by Sheria Irving, a passionate advocate for mentorship and empowerment, inspired by her own experiences as an educator in the New York Public School system. In her role, Sheria witnessed the unique challenges faced by young women, especially those from underserved communities. She saw how women of color, a demographic disproportionately affected by poverty, violence, and systemic inequities, often lacked the support, guidance, and resources needed to thrive.
Having benefitted herself from the mentorship of strong women throughout her life, she was fueled and inspired to create SHE. Recognizing that young Black and Brown girls face real and profound challenges—from harsher disciplinary actions in grade school to feelings of hypervisibility and invisibility in higher education—Sheria founded SHE to bridge this gap.
